JOSE: ROONEY TALK NONSENSE
Jose Mourinho has been facing the media and has thrown a spanner in the works by declaring Wayne Rooney is an important player that he wants at Manchester United - insisting he could start against Bournemouth tomorrow, live on Sky Sports 1HD.
“So Wayne Rooney to Everton, I only can say that in the final with the result 2-2 (in the EFL Cup final) with the team in difficulties, with the team possibly going to play 40 more minutes, Rooney was ready to go into the pitch.
"So he’s not the player we play in the last minute or to give a gift in the winning final, you trust and are going to play your crucial change, which is the last one.
“He’s selected for tomorrow with possibilities to play, start or be on the bench, so since the moment he decided to stay and to help the team and to fight for Manchester United he’s an important player for us and I think by giving you these two little big details I’m telling you all the talk about Everton for me makes nonsense.”
CONTE PREPARING FOR CARROLL
Andy Carroll is back in full training for West Ham ahead of facing Chelsea on Monday, and Conte admits he is one of many players his side must be wary of.
“He is a really good player, very strong and we must pay great attention. I think we must pay attention for the whole squad.
"EFL Cup they beat us, we are preparing for different solution to limit the strength of our opponent. It is important to play our idea of football, our philosophy and play football, high intensity.
“If you face a player that is fast, another that is very strong physically, we are preparing well.”
CONTE ON HIS FUTURE
“Every coach when you start work with a new club, you hope to stay many, many years.
“It means you are working very well. You have the possibility to grow. I think this season we are doing this. In this moment it is a transition in Chelsea, it is a season with a lot of players that won a lot here.
“It is normal for every coach to hope to stay, to work to improve your players to reach great results and to win."
'LITTLE PROBLEM' FOR HAZARD
Conte is looking forward to facing West Ham, live on Monday Night Football, with no fresh injury concerns. Though one of his key men does have a slight issue to contend with...
"Nothing important, a little problem for [Eden] Hazard. He got kicked, but nothing serious.
“Everything else with the team is fine. It was something in the training on Wednesday. I don’t remember who kicked him. Nothing more serious.”
CONTE STAYING PUT
Antonio Conte insists his situation is “very clear” at Chelsea, and he is looking to a future at the London club, following reports he could leave the club.
Conte was reported to be homesick, and says he is attempting to move his family from Italy to England.
“I think for sure the only problem for me this season is the family is missing me. For sure, they stay in Italy and I am working for the future to bring them here and stay together. Family is missing me, this is the truth.”
STURRIDGE OUT
Klopp confirms Daniel Sturridge will also miss the visit of Arsenal.
"Sturridge is not training," the Liverpool manager says. "He was ill, really ill. Now he has a strain - his hip muscle.
"It happened in a rehab session. It’s very small but it keeps him out of normal training for another week. or so, he can train but he won’t be in team training."
HENDO OUT OF ARSENAL CLASH
Klopp confirms there will be no return to the side for injured club-captain Jordan Henderson but gave a more positive update on the fitness of centre-back Dejan Lovren.
"It’s too soon for Jordan, for sure," Klopp says.
"Dejan had full team training yesterday. We will have to see how he reacts. He will be involved in training again if nobody tells me any different and then we have to make a decision.
"He was out for four weeks and will have been training for three days."
POCH WILL NOT RISK KANE
Harry Kane IS expected to be fit for Tottenham's game against Everton, live on Sky Sports 1HD on Sunday, but Mauricio Pochettino will not be taking any chances with him after he took a knock against Stoke...
“The first moment he said it was good. When after a few minutes he tried, I asked. In that moment we made two changes. He said I am okay.
"But at the end of the game when it got cold, it appeared more painful.
"But I trust that he can play Sunday. If not, if he is a risk, he will not be in the squad."
KLOPP TAKES COMFORT FROM SPURS GAME
The Liverpool manager insists he is not reading too much into the abject performance against Leicester, pointing to the confident win against title-chasing Tottenham as a sign his players are good enough to get three points this weekend.
“I can’t ignore the game against Tottenham, three weeks ago but pretty much the same players," he says.
"Should we doubt them in general?
"Being consistent is the most important thing, when you have the quality to reach something. Being inconsistent means you struggle."
'ARSENAL CLASH WILL BE HIGH INTENSITY'
Despite beating Arsenal 4-3 at the start of the season, Klopp insists that result will count for nothing ahead of this weekend's showdown with The Gunners.
"No game against a top team of the league has been easy," he says. "Not one of them.
"It was always hard work and high intensity.
"Until now, we have always been ready for perform. We need to bounce back. We need to keep the points at Anfield.
"There’s been a lot of water under the bridge since the last game, so I can’t use the previous game [against Arsenal]."
POCH ON BARCA LINKS
Mauricio Pochettino is one of the top names on Barcelona's list to be their new head coach, according to our Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, but the Tottenham boss was coy on his interest in the role in his press conference...
“I saw it’s a big list, 100 names. Like I always told you it’s a business I know very well.
"I was born with a ball in my arms and I understand very well the business. I don’t take it like a flattering.
"I am and we are in the biggest clubs in Europe. For me Tottenham is one of the biggest clubs. We play very good football, exciting team, very good players.
"It's normal we catch the attention of other clubs and football people. We are part of that business and our names always appear on the lists."
KLOPP: WE MUST PROVE WE CAN DO IT
After tailing off this calendar year following a blistering start to the season, Klopp says Liverpool have a point to prove, particularly after the 3-1 defeat at Leicester.
“We have to prove (ourselves) again, unfortunately," he says.
“We didn’t expect to be that bad against Leicester. But there were a lot of reasons why we played that bad.
“It’s not about being passive."
KOEMAN QUIET ON BARCA
Former Barcelona player Ronald Koeman would not be drawn on Luis Enrique's announcement he will leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season.
Asked if he is focused on his Everton 'project', he said: "Of course. Every word from my side about Barcelona is too much.
"I don’t speak about Barcelona."
KLOPP: DUO WERE NOT AT THEIR LEVEL
Klopp is reflecting on that loss to Leicester and admits Brazilian duo Roberto Firmino and Phillipe Coutinho were among those not at their best at the King Power Stadium.
"If you have that many players not on their usual level each Premier League game will be difficult," he says.
"So we lost because of our performance.
"We have to do better, 100%. Not only Phil and Roberto. There are a few other players who have a lot of space to improve.
"We have to be as confident as possible in the next game."
KOEMAN: WE'LL BE WATCHING BELLEW
Ronald Koeman says Everton's pre-match preparation for Everton's game against Spurs, live on Sky Sports 1HD, will be to watch one of their biggest fans...Tony Bellew
The Everton supporter is fighting David Haye tommorrow night, live on Sky Box Office.
"We arranged that we can see the fight. He’s an Evertonian and we will support him! Let’s hope he can win. That’s Saturday and then we have a big game on Sunday!"
Koeman grew up as a big boxing fan...
"At that time it was still Cassius Clay and Joe Frazier!"
KLOPP: I’M NO CLOWN
Asked about his unyielding enthusiasm and optimisim Klopp says: “I am not a clown even if a few people think I am. I am not always laughing like crazy. I am a normal person.
“We are all influenced by our experiences. So why should I be in the same mood as at the start of the season?
“We are not ignoring the problems we have. The first impression from this season [the win at The Emirates] was spectacular. Some people may say that game was like the whole season in one game.”
KOEMAN CAGEY ON ROONEY
Wayne Rooney's future is not one the Everton manager, Ronald Koeman, wants to answer in his press conference....
"I don’t speak any more about Rooney, he is a player of United I won’t say any more. We will see what happens in the future."
KLOPP '100% OPTIMISTIC'
Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-3 on the opening weekend of the Premier League season and despite a disappointing 3-1 loss at Leicester on Monday night the Reds boss is confident ahead of this weekend's visit of Arsene Wenger's side.
"I am 100% optimistic again when I think about the Arsenal game on Saturday," he says.
KLOPP BEMOANS LACK OF CONSISTENCY
Jurgen Klopp has sat down to speak to the media ahead of the visit of Arsenal on Saturday.
And the Liverpool boss admits he is concerned by his team's recent performances which have seen them produce just two wins in their last 12 matches.
"It doesn’t feel that free-flowing anymore but that’s how seasons are," Klopp said.
"Only Chelsea have that feeling still, all the rest have had better or worse moments in the season.
"We have a lack of consistency. We cannot ignore it because we were involved in the games.
"It’s not too important to compare the start of the season with this moment. But it’s obviously different.
"It was a free-flowing start, not too perfectly organised with no bad experience together. As full of confidence as possible after a pre-season we were convinced we had done the right things."
EARLY SPURS TEAM NEWS
Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane are all progressing well and will be assessed after final training session ahead of this weekend's Everton game.
Erik Lamela is continuing with 'field work' this week but no date yet scheduled for return to full training, while Danny Rose is progressing as expected with recovery and rehabilitation. He remains a number of weeks away from a return to full training.

PULIS LEAVES PALACE ROW TO LAWYERS
West Brom manager Tony Pulis welcomes his former club Crystal Palace to The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Saturday amid reports Palace are considering sending bailiffs to recover the £3.7m he owes the club.
Pulis was ordered to pay damages to Palace by a Premier League Managers' Arbitration Tribunal, which concluded he had "secured early payment of his bonus from the club by deceit" in August 2014.
"The situation is the lawyers have told me not to say anything and when the situation is concluded then I will have my say on it," said Pulis in this morning's press conference.
"I'll let the lawyers do their work. I'm not so sure the Palace fans will be (different towards me). They can make their own mind up. They were fantastic to me and what has happened off the pitch has been really disappointing, but I can't go into it.”
WATCH: PULIS ON MCAULEY
Here's what Tony Pulis had to say about whether Gareth McAuley - the Premier League's oldest outfield player at 37 - will be awarded a new contract....

WATCH: HOWE CONFIDENT OF SURVIVAL
Here's what the Bournemouth has just had to say on the Cherries' chances of Premier League survival...
APPROACH NO DIFFERENT FOR UTD
Eddie Howe says his side will enter the game against Manchester United with the same mindset as any other fixture, but admits three points are much-needed - and quickly.
"Certainly we've worked the players hard. We’re excited about the game. We can only be positive about the future and certainly there’s no other way to approach this game or any other game.
"We’re as confident as we can be with this run of fixtures. We know that a win is needed to fully feel good about ourselves, hopefully that’s not too far away.
"When you look at our recent history we have to take a moment to think, look back and reflect. The positions the club and these players have been in it’s not been a bed of roses for them."
HOWE TO STOP ZLATAN?
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been speaking ahead of his side's early kick-off against Manchester United tomorrow, live on Sky Sports 1HD
After Jose Mourinho's side claimed the EFL Cup last weekend at Wembley, it's safe to say Howe could have had easier games to try to put an end to their run of eight games without a win....
"Manchester United won the cup last week so they'll be in good spirits. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has gone on to prove how good he is this season.
"I was impressed with Ibrahimovic when we came up against him back in August. We have to be prepared."
'WE'D LOVE RONDON TO SCORE!'
Salomon Rondon is without a goal since scoring a hat-trick against Swansea on December 14 last year, but Pulis is sticking by his centre forward.
"We'd love Salomon to score but his commitment and work rate is a reason why we are scoring so many goals."
West Brom will have to leave it late on Matty Phillips' fitness ahead of facing Palace tomorrow...
"We are still waiting on Matty. Fingers crossed he will be okay. He'll train today. Craig Dawson s is alright. He took lots of stick (against Bournemouth."
NEW DEAL FOR PL'S OLDEST PLAYER
The Premier League's oldest outfield player, Gareth McAuley, is close to agreeing a new contract.
Speaking his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Cystal Palace, Tony Pulis has just confirmed the 37-year-old West Brom defender - who has more league goals (six) than Wayne Rooney this season - is in talks over the new terms.
"Gareth McAuley has been fantastic and we are very close to agreeing a new deal with him. His performances have been special.
"McAuley's fitness level is first class. He's a wonderful lad around the dressing room. He's a block you want to build around."
BERAHINO'S EXTRA WORK
Saido Berahino is putting in overtime to try and force his way into the side this weekend, says Hughes.
"He's doing extra work over and above the main group on sharpness and finishing. We've been really impressed with him, particularly in terms of his finishing.
"Working with him I'm even more impressed with his finishing than I was before. He's clearly very much in my thoughts. He's going to be a very big player for us and it's only going to be a matter of time before he scores goals for us."
BOUNCING BACK FROM SPURS...
It's fair to say Stoke haven't done well against Spurs in recent meetings after another 4-0 defeat last weekend...
"We hope we've got it out of our system. We didn't perform on the day for whatever reason. Of all the top teams we play Spurs have given us more problems than most.
"We've been well beaten three times. They are the strongest team or the team that cause us most problems.
"We were on a decent run, one defeat in seven games, and the key is to get back on track and start winning games again. We've got 12 or so games to go and it's about kicking on and finishing as strongly as possible."

HUGHES' STRIKER DILEMMA
After confirming Wilfried Bony was left out of the squad to face Tottenham due to not making the numbers rather than injury, Hughes has been discussing his striker dilemma ahead of this weekend's game - with Bony having reportedly voiced his frustrations this week...
"Wilf’s been a little bit unlucky. I’ve not seen the quotes myself. He had a good run when he first came here but it’s fair to say he didn’t score as many goals as he would have liked and I would have liked.
"So he was out of the team and then he went to the African Cup of Nations.
"He was away from the side for a while and during that time Peter Crouch came into that side and did really well. It’s been difficult for Wilf to get back in.
"Clearly we’ve brought Saido Berahino back in in the meantime so that’s an extra striker on the books, so he’s just going to have to be patient, as all players have to be. He’ll get opportunities to play before the end of the season."
'SHAQIRI A MAJOR DOUBT'
Mark Hughes is up bright and early and facing questions from the media this morning, he's been delivering his team news ahead of the visit of Middlesbrough this weekend...
"Shaqiri is still a major doubt although he should train today.
"Jon Walters and Glen Johnson are back at full tilt."
Hughes confirmed Wilfried Bony did miss out last week just because of numbers.
IT'S FRIDAY...
...and that means it's Premier League press conference day! Oh, and the weekend's nearly here too.
We've got a lot to discuss today, with several big hitters set to face deliveries on a number of interesting topics.
Will Mauricio Pochettino have anything to say about being linked with the Barcelona job?
Will Jose Mourinho have any response to Mesut Ozils' new autobiography, in which the Arsenal man has claimed United's manager called him a "coward"?
There's all that and more to come, but first we're heading to the Midlands to hear from Mark Hughes
Stoke secured the future of Ibrahim Afellay yesterday with a new deal, and the Potters face the visit of relegation-threatened Middlesbrough this weekend.
Let's get started!
THAT'S ALL FOLKS!
And that's your lot from today on what has been a busy day of Premier League news conferences. The good news is we've got even more where that came from - with eight managers talking today, that means there are another 12 to offer us their views ahead of the weekend's action tomorrow. Make sure you join us for that right here on skysports.com in the morning. Bye for now!
DYCHE ON AWAY FORM
Burnley's game at Swansea on Saturday is their second in a run of four straight away games. The Clarets haven't won on their travels this season but manager Sean Dyche expects that to change soon.
MAZZARRI ON ZARATE
The Italian has spoken to Mauro Zarate, who is out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury.
Mazzarri said: "I speak with him almost daily. We are all very disappointed and very sorry. It's his first big injury in his whole career.
"He was playing very well but with a foul from behind, it made his day black. Of course, he is a very important player but he was having his best moment and we will miss him.
"We will wait for him and we are sure he will come back stronger than before. I wanted to take him off as he was injured in the 20th minute and I kept asking how he was.
"I did ask him many times but for some reason, maybe because of his pride, he wanted to keep playing and decided to stay. Eventually the knee dropped completely later."
